President's Welcome

Christine McDonald

I have spent over 28 years in the ever-changing world of ophthalmology and I'm very excited to spend this next year serving as ATPO's President. Welcome! If you are a new member to ATPO, we are glad you decided to join. If you are an existing member, thank you for your continued support. If you are not yet a member, please join us. ATPO has much to offer its members, providing continuing education, educational scholarships, mentoring, advocacy, career growth, and networking opportunities for allied ophthalmic personnel.

I truly believe education is the key to success. My personal motto is: Be the best you can at whatever it is that you choose to do, better yourself, invest in yourself, and help others along the way. When allied ophthalmic personnel are educated, we provide better service to our patients and our practices.

Volunteer! Whether it is teaching a class at a local, regional, or national meeting, promoting our profession, participating on various committees, or writing an article for Viewpoints Magazine or the Monthly Memo, you will meet some of the best and brightest within this profession. You have more to bring to our organization than you realize. I know, it's scary at first, but when you start to meet others in the organization, you will be so glad you got involved. When you volunteer, you'll be surprised that you get back as much as you give or more.

The Board of Directors is here for you. Please feel free to contact us with your concerns, ideas, or just to say hello and let us know who you are. We are here to serve you and would enjoy getting to know more about you.

I wish you much success both personally and professionally.
